2012 Goodbyes

1st order of business: I apologize for apparently dropping off the face of the Earth. This fall was INSANELY crazy. My goal was to add herd information weekly to help us get to better know our horses. Obviously, that didn’t happen!

This weekend is Adult Update. We will be polishing our skills and reviewing policies and procedures to make sure we are all on the same page.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone this spring! Get some rest theses last couple of days of break and have a great 2013! -Whyt

December was a hard month at Misty Meadows. We lost 2 of our beloved horses. The decision was also made to retire another.

In Memory

Somewhere...somewhere in time's own space
There must be some sweet pastured place
Where creeks sing on and tall trees grow
Some Paradise where horses go.
For by the love that guides my pen
I know great horses live again."
-Stanley Harrison

Bud

1981 -12/6/2012

Bud ended his days at Misty Meadows at the age of 33, a great age for a horse. He was able to spend has senior years with his friend Shadow.
Bud had a difficult time in his last weeks getting to his feet. He was hurting his legs and hock with all the efforts he was making to get up.
Bud was very much cherished was laid to rest by Crystal.

Blondie

1990 -12/15/2012

After an all day and night battling with colic, Blondie was humanely relieved of her pain. Blondie has been retired for several years now and lived with our herd manager.
Blondie was 22 years old. She, along with her friend Dagwood, pulled the wagon in many parades for GSSJC. She was also our vaulting horse and a fun ride for those who liked heights.
Blondie was tough on her feed bowls. Shortly after receiving a new bowl because hers was broken and flat, she would promptly stomp on it, making it nice and flat, just the way she liked it.
